The 2024 Festival will be opened with an intimate evening of words and music by spoken word artist and musician Denise Chaila. This is sure to be a very special event which Denise describes as ‘half discussion half performance’, a unique opportunity to look inside the process of one Irelands most important contemporary artists. This kicks off the full weekend programme which features Jane Clarke, Vona Groarke, Mary Morrissy, visual artist Dorothy Cross, Kate O’Brien scholar Dr Jana Fischerova, and previous winner of the Kate O’Brien Award Elaine Feeney.
International guests for 2024 include Poetry Pharmacist William Sieghart, French author Antoine Laurain, who is shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award 2024, and Booker longlisted author Francis Spufford.
The weekend also features perennial favourite Desert Island Books which will see well known personalities Valerie Dolan, Nigel Dugdale, Dan Mooney and Ann Blake open up in conversation about their favourite books. Followed by the presentation of the 2024 Kate O’Brien Award for a debut novel from a female Irish author.
Finally the festival will close out with an interview with Booker Prize shortlisted author Claire Keegan.
